Latin Llama Conjugation Helps

Here is a fun idea for reviewing Latin Conjugations. I purchased a little llama stuffy to keep at home. It comes out daily only at review time at to help us review Latin. As we sing the Latin Conjugation song for that week, we pass the llama around. The kids love to stroke it and snuggle it while we review.

Conjugation Memory Helps

We use these memory triggers to help remember the start of each Latin Conjugation song:

  • Present Tense: “What do you say when you get a present? Ohhh!” (this helps child recall the 1st person singular ending is -o)
  • Imperfect Tense: “What makes something imperfect? A Bomb (-bam)”
  • Future Tense: “In the Future, what will the three blind mice wear in their hair? A bow (-bö)” This song is to the tune of Three Blind Mice, so this trigger helps with that too.
  • Perfect Tense: “What do you say when you get the Perfect present? Eeee! (-ī) “
  • Pluperfect Tense: “What do you say when your shoes are stinky? PU (Pluperfect Tense). What do you do with them? Air them out! (-eram)”
  • Future Perfect Tense: “What is the Perfect thing to go with our bow in the Future? An Arrow (-erō).”
