Here is an easy way to teach the theory of evolution for CC cycle 3 week 21. Evolution says that life started by non-living things coming together by chance…that it all started with a big bang. Today we are going to simulate the big bang.
Materials
- Balloon
- 1 piece of paper
- pin
- legos
- box
Big Bang Balloon Experiment
- Tear a piece of paper in small pieces.
- Blow up a balloon and let the air go (to stretch it out).
- Put all the pieces of paper into the balloon and blow it up again. Tie it off.
- Use a pin and pop the balloon. This is the Big Bang.
- The pieces go flying everywhere.
- Do they form back into a piece of paper? No. More chaos comes out of the bang, not order.
Lego Experiment
- Have child make a car out of legos.
- Next take it apart and put it in a box.
- Shake really hard and for a long time.
- Open the box.
- Ask the child: “Did the car come back together?”…..No, it could not just come together by shaking the box for a long time. It needed a Designer to make the car. In the same way, life on earth needed a Designer.
